Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great welcome into the new year. I have been tagged by the lovely Kayley Monaghan to complete this quiz of the year. I was meant to blog yesterday, but have been so busy and couldn’t find my laptop charger anywhere (it was behind the sofa, clearly did not look that far). But here I am, ready to answer some questions!
What was your highlight of 2016?
Definitely having my beautiful, perfect baby boy. Going from never wanting a baby, ever to having this bundle of joy. And I couldn’t be happier.
Getting engaged pretty much day after I gave birth, it was so wonderful.
Starting this blog! Days can be quite long on your own at home when my partner is at work and Joseph is napping/playing so it’s been great to get started on MotherhoodRambles and meet other people.
Name one thing you are likely to remember about 2016 if asked in five years time?
Obviously giving birth to my son! Don’t think I’ll forget that in 60 years time let alone 5!
Also 2016 hasn’t really been a great year for the world with Brexit, Trump, countless of celebrity deaths. I’m pretty sure 2016 will stand out for a long time.
Sum up 2016 in one word.
Name one pearl of wisdom from 2016 that you will carry through 2017.
To always be patient and remember just because someone seems to be way ahead of you in life doesn’t mean that you’re way behind–it just means that they are at a different step in their life compared to you. If that makes any sense, it did in my head.
I always struggle with having patience and always get anxious that time is running out. I’m 22 and I just worry that it’s too late to go to university and get my dream job. But it isn’t!! My friends are in university/graduated but need to remind myself they don’t have children, or a partner, or their own home. They are not ahead of you, this isn’t even a race. BE PATIENT. Good things come to those who wait. Accept you can’t control everything.
Do you have any new year resolutions?
I was going to make a separate post about these, but there’s no point if it’s asked here!
- Lose weight/get fitter
This seems to be on my list every year. But since having a baby I’m a bit saggy around the edges. It would be lovely to just drop a dress size and tone up a bit. Not to get too ill though as it’s so easy to fall into the trap of discorded thoughts/eating patterns. I don’t want to be too hard on myself as spending time with my son and partner is my biggest priority.
- Pass my driving test
I’ve failed twice now on such silly mistakes. I so desperately want to pass so I can take Joseph swimming and out places. It will also make me feel a little less down in the dumps if I can just go out whenever. PLEASE!!!!
- Get a new job, get into university/college
So desperately want to be a health care support worker for the NHS. It’s better pay than my job now (support worker for brain injury) and they help you to become a nurse. I’ve applied for university to do adult nursing. My GCSE’s are great, A Levels are not so good but just hoping they look at my experience and give me a chance. If not, college course it is.
- Be more productive
So important. I find my days are wasted napping with Joseph when really, I should power through and get doing some house chores, taking care of my appearance, meal prepping etc.
- Save money
This is going to be hard considering I’m still on maternity till April ish. But once I get back earning a little money, need to put some away so we can buy our own home.
- Carry on going on more adventures with family
How are you seeing in the new year?
We went down my mum and dads and had a little buffet and played some games then came home, wished each-other a happy new years with a kiss and went to bed 🙂
What would you most like to do in 2017?
Pass my driving test and maybe go away somewhere in the UK for the weekend would be lovely! I so desperately want to go abroad but money situation don’t think that’ll happen, boo. Next year perhaps!
What are your main goals for 2017?
Be the best mum I can be, go on lots of adventures, eat better, get a new job, continue blogging, write in my ‘thought a day’ book every day and just be happy and enjoy every day as it comes.
I tag the following bloggers to take part:
Anyone who wants to take part that I haven’t mentioned, feel free to copy this and put that I’ve tagged you! It’s almost midnight and I am super tired so going to call it a night now.
